Hello -
Does the Historical Society carry school year- books? I left a telephone message on the same topic. I work at the Culver City Julian Dixon Library and we have some yearbooks but it is not a large collection.
I can be reached be email or phone at 310-559-1676 Tuesday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on alternating Fridays & Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thank you. -Laura Frakes

Laura,
We do not have school yearbooks, but the school district should. The Education Foundation (CCEF) has a number from what we understand, and they are located within the district office on Irving Place.

HI! I am writing in hope that you may help me find some information for my school project. FOr my topic I chose to compare Downtown Culver city how it is laid out today and how it was laid out in history. I have a lot of flexibility with what year I pick but I have to show 2 maps. 1 of how the buildings and what they are now (movie theatre, hotel, restaurants, and more) and what downtown looked like 20 or 30 or 40 years ago. Please let me know if you may be able to help me.
Thank you

Hello,
I am from Argentina and I am now in LA making a documentary of a boxer, Oscar “Ringo” Bonavena. He fought against Jim Fletcher in the 70s.
I am trying to get in contact with him (I know he lives in Culver City) , but I can’t. Do you have any information regarding him that you can share? E-mail, address, phone nu…
Hope it is not too much to ask.
Thanks for your time.

Hello,
I was wondering if I could have permission to use your photo from September 28,2011 of the picture from Culver City in the 1950′s on my website? The picture would be used in the background. Thanks

Hi!
I purchased a Culver City throw at the USC event a few weeks ago and wish to buy two more. If I come this Saturday ( 11/17) will I be able to purchase them at that time?
Thanks.

Hello,
I am a graduate student at Claremont Graduate University, getting my masters in Arts Management. I am in the process of writing a term paper for a class, and my topic is Historic Preservation in Culver City. Would anyone in the office be available to answer a few questions about the Policy? (ex. How has historic preservation/activity changed in Culver City over the years? Are there any issues about historic preservation currently up for debate?)
I work full time, 8-5 Monday through Friday, but would be available by phone during the week. Or, if it is easier, I could email the office some questions.
Thank you so much for your time!

We are at the Archives on Saturday, the 15th, the 29th from 1-3PM, so you can call and ask for the city historian- Julie Lugo Cerra- and I will be glad to give you some help. Or email us!
Best,

I am writing an aritcle on the history of auto racing and auto racing parts suppliers in Culver City. Does the Society have any records or files on these subjects that would make a trip down for the Bay Area worthwhile?

We have some old directories from the late 1930s and 1940s, but we are in the process of doing a lot of cataloging. Are you thinking of any specific businesses?
Best,
Julie

Julie;
I am writing about Ted Halibrand, whose shop according to an ad, listed an address on Marilyn Avenue in CC- I cannot find such a street.
The other focus is George Newnam who operated Norden Machine Works.
